Cheshire Services in Ireland

Our mission statement:

Working in partnership with people who use our services and with statutory and voluntary agencies, we provide quality accommodation and support services across Ireland to adults with primarily, physical disabilities.

We are committed to developing our staff, facilities and management processes to ensure we have the capability, knowledge and skills required to deliver cost effective, quality services in ways that respect every person’s rights, personal choice and individuality.

  •  Supported accommodation services

Up until the 1990s, the accommodation provided by Cheshire took the form of a ‘traditional’ residential home. Over the course of the last decade and in response to what service users were telling us and as a result of our own evaluative and qualitative research, Cheshire’s model of service provision has changed and expanded. Today, all of our centres aim to facilitate people to live as independently as possible and with the maximum degree of choice as to how to live their lives.

In recent years we have developed new centres around the country where people with disabilities live in their own apartments with whatever personal support they need provided by Cheshire staff.

Currently, more than one-third of Cheshire service users live in self-contained accommodation and additional services in line with this model of lifetime adaptable housing are in the course of development.

  • Respite services

Most of our centres provide respite rooms or apartments which are available to people who normally live in the community or who get services from other agencies.  Bedroom Facilities - Type 1Typically, people avail of breaks of one or two weeks’ duration. Emergency or crisis respite is also provided, subject to accommodation being available.
