Ballinakill Church Ballinakill Church and graveyard were situated south of Ballinakill House. In the 1700s Huguenots were buried here and a private grave yard also existed here with four of five families having rights of burial. The Waterford News 24 March 1911 carried news of the death of Mr Robert Dobbyn of Ballinakill House The report stated "the late Mr Robert Dobbyn will be interred tomorrow in a private cemetery... it is interesting to note that the ancient church of the parish of Ballinakill stood about sixty yards to the S.W. of the present Ballinakill House. Some insignificant remains of the church are visible in the stable yard of the house in question. That part of the ancient cemetery in which a few families retain rights of burial is surrounded by an enclosing wall. An considerable of the church buildings survived till about a hundred years since. The meaning of the Irish word from which Ballinakill is derived is "Homestead of the Church".
