    2006 Dublin Port Tunnel Race

Disappear Under the Streets of Dublin for MS Ireland

It has now been confirmed that the unique Port Tunnel Run will take place at 11.00am on Sunday the 10th of December. This is an ideal way to finish the MS Ireland Charity of the Year partnership with this once in a lifetime event.

This is the one and only opportunity to see the Port Tunnel up close before its official opening on the 20th Dec 06. The Race start will be at East Wall near the Port area, run the 4.5 km length of one tunnel, popping out at Santry before returning through the other tunnel to the finish back at East Wall (near Dublin Port).

    Online Registration Fee

Entry to the run can be made on line only. Please note there is a limit on the numbers who can take part, so immediate registration is recommended to ensure your place in this once in a lifetime event. 3000 places out of the 10,000 limit have already gone!

Entry to the event costs €25. (inclusive of on line registration fee). Registration is now open see www.activeeurope.com

    Getting There

Public transport is the recommended means of getting to Dublin Port Tunnel. The run will start in East Wall, Dublin 3 and can be accessed easily by both Dart at Clontarf and Bus to Fairview Strand.

The nearest dart station is Clontarf Road some 15 minutes walking distance from run start via Alfie Byrne Road and East Wall Road.

    The following Bus routes will also bring you to Annsley Bridge Fairview, within easy walking distance 20B, 27, 27B, 29A, 31, 31B, 32, 32A, 42, 42A 42B, 33, 130

    Baggage

Runners are advised to come prepared to run. There will be very limited baggage facilities at the race start.

    Course

The Course will be marked at each km. Conditions for running are ideal as it is practically all held underground, however there is a distinct climb for 3km of the outbound journey and 2+ km of the return journey. Participants should ensure they can finish the distance before taking part.

Every finisher will receive a beautifully engraved souvenir medallion and a special commemorative T-shirt

    Race for Charity

All sponsorship raised by individuals will go towards our Charity of the Year MS. To take part on behalf of MS Ireland, please also register your interest directly with MS, who will be happy to supply you with t-shirts and sponsorship forms.
