The South East Region has a population of 391,046. Forty percent of the population is under twenty-five years, twenty percent is under fifteen years and twelve percent is over sixty-four years. This reflects the national profile.

Of the total population, ten percent is estimated to have a disability. Currently 430 people with MS are registered with the South East Regional Office. This is broken down as follows:

58 people with MS live in Co Carlow
69 people with MS live in Co Kilkenny
74 people with MS live in Tipperary South Riding
122 people with MS live in Co Waterford
107 people with MS live in Co Wexford.

The MS Society has a regional community project co-terminus with the South Eastern Health Board. Its office is based in Kilkenny in the grounds of Ossary Social Services on Nuncio Road off Waterford Road. There are six branches in the region: Carlow, Dungarvan/South Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford North and Wexford South. Branches are run by people with MS, volunteers and others.
