Waterford City Elections June 2004.

Cllr.Jack Walsh A first time standing Labour candidate was duly elected to Waterford City Council, polling 736 1st Preference Votes, an astonishing near tripling of the previous figure of 261.

Jack along with Alderman Pat Hayes a former Mayor of Waterford, and Cllr Seamus Ryan present Mayor of Waterford, forms a formidable Labour presence on the Council. The Branch is proud to have worked for Jack's success. With his commitment to and work carried out on behalf of the local community, he has already established himself as a considerable political talent and a major asset to party and community.

A major component of Labours Election success in Waterford, was the contribution of local T.D Brian O Shea, the party's spokesperson on Gaelteacht and Rural Affairs.This Branch appreciates it's association with Brian, whose unquestioned integrity, untiring endeavours on behalf of all his constituents of Waterford City and County over the many years, has made him one of the most respected political figures in Irish political life.


Local Labour Success.

In recent county mayoral elections, Cllr Ger Barron was elected as mayor of Waterford County Council, genial Ger, who represents Kilmacthomas is a hugely popular figure. Additionally Cllr Fiachra O' Ceilleachair, was elected Mayor of Dungarvan.

Their success reflects greatly on their personal standing in Waterford political circles, and the party is rightly proud of their achievement.
