Hi Sinead,
The Ardkeen Online software is a fairly straightforward front end Editor. The aim is to get people making and maintaining their own simple websites.
- First you create your template using the 'Template Manager' (I created 'test.tem' here) If you click on 'Manage' you will be able to edit it or you can 'create' a new template - You can make as many as you want.
- You then use your template to make your web pages each must have a unique .html name. Your homepage is 'index.html' (This is the only one that exists already. You can save over it when you have decided on a homepage)
- You then insert your text and images. Tool bar (above) from left is like Ms Word. The four 'web' icons far left are for inserting 'links', 'pictures', 'table' and if you want getting in to edit the HTML.
- Before you can insert an image you must 'upload it' (button above)
- To see the live version of your page and test the links click on 'View page' (button above)
- You can email either myself or Cara on ardkeenonline@waterfordcity.ie or the phone is 843633 or you can drop into the library if you want a run through.
- Sometimes the font defaults to Times if this happens just highlight it change it all to something else and change it back to the font you want.
- Banner, images, etc. can be made up on PaintShop, PhotoShop etc. and inserted as images e.g. see www.ardkeen.ie/photography
- The manual is designed for complete beginners and goes into everything in gruesome detail.
I have a digital camera I can take some pictures if you like. It is possible to add other features such as a Bulletin board if yo think this would be useful for the traders. See www.ardkeen.ie/hooksandcrookes
